Founding members

OWI-Lab was initiated in 2008 by several leading companies in the Belgian wind energy value chain (3E, GeoSea-DEME, ZF Wind Power NV; former Hansen Transmissions, and CG Power Belgium; former Pauwels Trafo) in close collaboration with the Agoria Renewable Energy Club and Generations, the industrial innovation platform conserning renewable energy technologies in Flanders.

Sirris, the collective centre of the Belgian technology industry, is operating and coordinating OWI-Lab. Under the guise of BruWind, VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) together with Sirris are also coordinating and clustering research with regard to wind energy on the academic level. The OWI-Lab initiative and it's infrastructure has  funded by the Flemish government with co-financing by the companies mentioned above.

Next to the founding members, more than 35 other companies, universities and knowledge centres are involved in OWI-Lab. More information about the involved companies can be found here.
